Lalique made history in 1906, at the start of the age of factory-produced perfumes, when it created an outstandingly crafted glass bottle for Coty perfumes, thus setting the standard for using beautiful, artistic bottles in the manufacture and presentation of fine fragrance. Over the years, Lalique has designed the containers for many of the worlds' finest perfumes, until the very name "Lalique" is synonymous for "the best". But it wasn't until 1993 that Lalique produced its own namesake perfume, with a fragrance designed by Rene Lalique's own granddaughter, Marie-Claude Lalique. Marie-Claude wanted a special fragrance that would capture the essence of her two favorite flowers from her gardens in Provence: magnolia and peony (a challenge, since these two fragrances do not exist as essential oils).
