Violet, symbol of femininity, is a color with mystical and spiritual depth. And on the threshold of the visible light spectrum, Ultraviolet rays have an energizing force. These are the themes behind Ultraviolet, from Paco Rabanne.
Created for Rabanne by renowned perfumer Jacques Cavallier, and launched on the U.S. market in February 2000, Ultraviolet symbolizes a new sensuality, a new intelligence and a new warmth for a world that, according to Rabanne, is "wallowing in wealth but morbid in spirit". To the rescue comes Ultraviolet, who's refreshing and spicy top notes burst with life and spirit, while the sensual base speaks of an inner radiance.
The UFO-shaped award-winning metal and glass bottle is very futuristic both in design and material, and is dispensed by simultaneously pressing the top and bottom parts together. |
Ultraviolet is a redesigned spicy floral oriental.
Top notes: fresh pimento, capsicum.
Heart notes: Japanese Osmanthus, which has a velvety but slightly acidic and sensuous femininity, like the flesh of an apricot.
Base notes: grey amber, vanilla
"It used to be the case that a sensual perfume had to be heavy and with vanilla. With Ultraviolet, I wanted to create an oriental, while keeping the headier side of patchouli at bay and bringing in light instead. The fresh and velvety blend so like a woman's skin was created using the delicate Japanese Osmanthus flower.
The final touch was ambergris for strength and depth. The result is this very assertive perfume which travels well through the air, without ever being intrusive…"
